Joining the Team at Whis-Purr Rescue...

Here at Whis-Purr Rescue, we love our volunteers and the kitties love them too!  Our volunteers need to be 18 years old.  At times we will also accept Volunteer parent with child over 10 years old. Our focus is keeping a nice house for all of our residents and then enjoying playtime with each cat and kitten!  The time a volunteer spends here at the rescue is really up to each individual.  While we do try and make exceptions when we can, we do not have as many opportunities for people who just want to socialize cats and hang out. 

We have 2 shifts a day.  AMs usually before 9AM and afternoons, after 3PM and no later than 5PM.  Typically a volunteer will commit to a shift, (sometimes 2) every week and they will have a regular schedule.

Whis-Purr also has 21 adult cats that have been here for quite some time.  We are working with them through Jackson Galaxy's Cat Pawsitive program and clicker training to help them to be more comfortable with people so they can find their purrfect homes.  This is a positive reinforcement training where we use treats and clickers to reinforce special behaviors that help our adult residents to have some fun with interactive activities.  Should you want to join us as a trainer at the rescue, please let us know.  This requires a commitment in time for the continuity necessary to gain the adult cat's trust.
